B. ARCHITECTURE

The interlace

2020

This project serves as a rural slum rehabilitation initiative in India. Departing from conventional approaches, it challenges typical slum rehabilitation theses.

Instead, it introduces a climate-oriented design, leveraging passive cooling techniques through wind simulations and lux analysis for improved human conditions. The resulting modular design acts as a replicable “kit of parts” adaptable to various sites.

The design intervention is the capstone project for the bachelor of architecture before taking up the research thesis for the final semester.

The project discusses the idea of rehabilitation of slum areas through a contextual approach with the design of a kit of parts that can be used as Lego blocks by slum dwellers to uplift their lives and create a context-rich in terms of urban footprint.
