BUILDING SYSTEMS 02
THE HIGH MUSEUM
SPRING 2024
The course is structured around the idea that Architects and Engineers are working in an increasingly integrated and computerized environment which requires these disciplines to understand each other’s work philosophies and principles at higher levels than previous generations.
It is essential to understand the broad principles of each other’s disciplines to work collaboratively. In this project, a case study of the Renzo Piano Building Workshop designed High Museum from Atlanta was modeled in extensive detail to understand the facade, structure, and primary and secondary envelope systems.
It also helped in elaborating how structural framing and architectural building envelopes interface and what design considerations the design team must study when creating a building.
Through multiple sets of construction drawings, the museum was modeled with attention to the details, to understand the thinking and layering of materials designed by Renzo Piano
